Beatiful people has got to be one of Mexico's best assets. May it be men or women, a quick trip around Mexico City will already show you that the country is not lagging behind in the attractiveness department. Their combination of native Mexicans, Spanish, and French ethnicity make the Mexicans one of the most beautiful people around.

In the case of their women, what can be a better proof than their citizens who are winning in these international beauty pageants? Such pageants are not exactly the best venue for proving their beauty, intelligence, and wit (some consider such pageants as backwards), but you gotta admit that these pageants really show how beautiful our countrymen are.

Just this year, a Mexican won one of the most coveted titles in the beauty pageant world, the Miss Universe 2010. Ximena Navarette, who came from Guadelajara, represented Mexico and competed against over 80 other women competing in the said pageant.

Now this is the third time in as many years that the winner of the Miss Universe pageant came from Latin America. In 2008 and 2009, the back-to-back winners were from Venezuela, a first for the competition. In 2007, the winner was Japan's Riyo Mori. This is just the second time that Mexico won the competition, following Lupita Jones who won in 1991.

Navarette is not just about beauty. She also has the brains, as she was studying to get a degree in nutrition before moving on to the modelling and pageant worlds. I am pretty sure she is not alone in Mexico to have these traits, truly one of the country's most precious treasures.
